Windows Into Queer Lives

Queer folk, especially in regional areas like Toowoomba, have limited places where their voices are celebrated and heard. Windows Into Queer Lives is all about fostering queer visibility and representation, and creating space for LGBTQIA+ people to connect, create, and express themselves authentically.

Windows into Queer Lives is an art and storytelling program designed to amplify LGBTQIA+ voices, foster connection, and celebrate queer identities through creative expression. This program includes:

  • A series of workshops to support LGBTQIA+ people explore their stories and identities through art and creativity

  • A four-week long art exhibition at The Toowoomba Write Gallery, showcasing art from queer creators

This project is a collaboration between Inclusive Counselling Collective, Amnesty International, and a committee of local LGBTQIA+ folk.

Submit your artwork

We welcome art from any and all Queer people in the Darling Downs. You don’t need to have had any professional experience in art before. All forms of artwork are accepted but for audio content.

The theme for the exhibition is Windows into Queer Lives, this can be taken as literally or metaphorically as you wish.

Workshops

We’re running a series of five community workshops open to LGBTQIA+ folk in the region. These workshops are all about connecting with community, exploring different art modalities, and finding ways to express our stories and identities.
