Curated by a team of local queer artists, community members, and advocates, Windows Into Queer Lives was created with the intention of amplifying and affirming LGBTQIA+ voices. This exhibition is more than a collection of artworks—it’s a testament to creative expression as a form of resistance, healing, and connection across communities. Each piece tells a story—sometimes joyful, sometimes painful, always deeply authentic.
Art has long been a means of carving out spaces of belonging in a world that too often tries to erase us. This exhibition stands as a visual testimony to our community—to our lives, our stories, and our undeniable presence. We hope that for queer viewers, stepping into this space feels like home. That for young folk, it offers visibility, hope, and a reminder that they are not alone. And for everyone who walks through, it serves as a poignant reminder that queer stories matter.
We invite everyone—queer and non-queer folks alike—to engage, reflect, and, most importantly, listen. To witness the depth and diversity of these experiences, hold space for the voices shared here, and walk away with a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be seen.
This exhibition is proudly supported by Amnesty International Toowoomba Group, The Lighthouse Toowoomba, Toowoomba Regional Council and the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF). RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Toowoomba Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
